First Post (well...)

Thanks to everyone that congratulated me on my thesis defense!

I decided I really didn't want to bother with this site. However, I may want to try my hand at a few good earth science posts in the future. So, I am moving to blogger. It seems popular with others in the geo-blogosphere. I moved several posts over just to see how I liked it and I was pretty impressed how well it worked. Of course, best of all it is free (as in cost).
